In a yet another shocking incident of crime against woman in the capital, a 20-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by her husband and two other men inside a moving vehicle before being dumped in a secluded area.

The incident came to light on Wednesday evening when a passerby spotted the victim in an unconscious state in Southwest Delhi‘s Najafgarh area. The passerby immediately called the police and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital.

According to the victim, she was gang-raped by Inderjeet (claimed to be her husband), Nitin and Vijendra in a Maruti Alto car. The three accused, who are in the age group of 21 and 25, have been arrested.

The medical examination of the woman also confirmed that she was raped.

According to The Times of India, Nitin and Vijendra are Inderjeet’s relatives. Inderjeet is a businessman and the other two accused are property dealers.

The victim, a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana, told police that she had married Inderjeet in a local temple without her parents’ knowledge. Inderjeet reportedly called her to Delhi to register their marriage. When she came to Delhi she was taken to a car in which Nitin and Vijender were already present.

The woman also said that she consumed cold-drinks laced with sedatives after which the trio gang-raped her.

“But on the way, she was offered a cold drink laced with sedatives and gang-raped by the three accused in an Alto. She was later thrown out of the car,” an officer told TOI.

Police on Thursday registered a rape case under IPC 376 (G).

This is not the first time the victim accused Inderjeet of raping her. Earlier in February, the woman filed an FIR against him claiming that he raped her. Police are now investigating the previous case.

Punjab & Haryana High Court- Don’t stress on age to define juveniles

Don’t stress on age to define juveniles: HC
CHANDIGARH: Against the backdrop of a raging debate on the age of juvenile offenders following the Nirbhaya rape, the Punjab and Haryana high court has held that benefits and privileges of juveniles should not be accorded to minors involved in monstrous crimes merely because of their biological age. Instead, it should be premised on the ability of offenders to understand the consequences of their actions.
“It is the advancement of the mental faculty of juvenile accused, which would suggest whether he is an adult or a juvenile,” the HC held while recommending a specialized examination of minors by experts who can evaluate their ability to segregate good and bad to show his/her maturity or immaturity to answer for the deeds.Justice Mahesh Grover of the Punjab and Haryana high court passed this judgment while dismissing the bail petition of a minor, a class VII student, who had allegedly raped two girls of class IX and X of his own school. The verdict came last week and a copy of the judgment was made available on Friday.

The judge was of the view that it is the factors related to growth and maturity psychologically and socially, but not entirely biologically, which would give an insight as to whether a person is a child or an adult.

“The courts ought not automatically assume that the statutory definition would confer the halo of a juvenile and give him an undeserving protection and benefits,” the court observed.

“In a country like ours the age given in the school certificate or the records of the school would only speak of an age imaginatively conjured by the parents at the time of admission. Even though it may form a persuasive piece of material, but certainly no credence and outright acceptability should be afforded to it.”

In this case, the juvenile from Chuchakwas village in Jhajjar district in Haryana had kidnapped the two girls in October last year. Both the victims and accused remained untraced for 10 days, during which the accused had allegedly raped both the girls at different places. While dismissing the bail plea of the accused, HC has asked the Juvenile Justice Board to consider the case in view of the observations.

Haryana – Ex-Armyman kills daughter for ‘honour’ #Vaw #honourkilling

TNN | Mar 30, 2013, 02.02 AM IST

ROHTAK: In a case of honour killing, a retired Army man allegedly strangulated his married daughter to death in Sherla village of Bhiwani district on Thursday, for tying the knot against his wishes.

The family cremated the body without informing the police in an attempt to destroy the evidence. The police, however, rushed to the village late Thursday after getting tipped off by some villager and started investigation. The police also contacted the victim’s husband, who lodged a complaint suspecting that she had been killed by her father.

The police registered a case under Section 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) against Satpal, the accused father, and arrested him on Friday. According to police, the victim, identified as Shashi Rani, 21, was a student of BA final year in Hisar. She was having an affair with a youth Gautam Singh Khapadwas, 23, from a village in Bhiwani, who was also a student in the same college.

Police officers said the victim approached her family revealing about their relationship and expressed willingness to her. Though both did belonged to different castes, her father still objected to it and rejected the marriage proposal.

However, they eloped from their houses on February 28 and tied the knot at an Arya Samaj temple in Bahadurgarh of Jhajjar district the same day. The couple started living at a rented accommodation in Hisar after the marriage. However, the victim’s husband alleged that her father took her back to their village about a week back on the pretext that they had accepted the marriage.

Behal police SHO Ashok Sharma informed TOI that police rushed to the cremation ground on Thursday evening after some village informed about unnatural death of a young woman. The deceased’s father stated that she had died of electrocution during ironing clothes but failed to provide convincing replies to police questioning and finally confessed to have killed her on Thursday.
